What if existence began with definition, not matter?

Volume 1 of The Fracture Hypothesis is the foundation volume. It asks the first impossible question behind the model: how could anything begin if space, time, energy, matter, motion, and observation did not already exist?

This volume proposes that existence does not begin with matter exploding into empty space. It begins with fracture: the first separation between undefinedness and definition. From that first distinction, relation becomes possible. From relation, imprint and information become possible. From preserved information, space-time becomes the fabric able to hold matter, light, gravity, life, mind, observation, and eventually artificial intelligence.

In that sense, Volume 1 is not mainly a physics claim. It is the origin-layer framework for the whole project: the first attempt to describe why there is a readable universe at all before later volumes pressure-test the model against time dilation, black holes, dark matter, gravity, compact matter, and space-travel limits.

Volume 1 focus: undefinedness -> fracture -> distinction -> relation -> imprint -> information -> space-time fabric -> matter -> life -> mind -> observation -> artificial intelligence.
Origin layer

Volume 1 begins before ordinary physics language by asking how definition, relation, and readable existence could emerge from absolute undefinedness.

Relational fabric

The model proposes that relation, imprint, preserved difference, and information become the foundation of a space-time fabric capable of holding matter and causality.

Bridge to observation

Life, mind, observation, and artificial intelligence are treated as later expressions of the same chain: matter becoming organized enough to receive, preserve, and reflect information.

About this volume

Volume 1 establishes the starting vocabulary for the Fracture Hypothesis. It begins with absolute undefinedness and proposes that the first meaningful event is not a physical explosion, but a fracture into distinction: something becoming definable against what remains undefined.

From that first division, the model builds a conceptual chain. Distinction allows relation. Relation allows imprint. Imprint allows preserved difference. Preserved difference becomes information. Information becomes the basis for a space-time fabric capable of holding sequence, matter, causality, and observation.

This foundation is carried through five later volumes. Volume 2 tests the model against time dilation, event horizons, redshift, and reality models. Volume 3 applies the same origin-layer logic to black holes and compact gravitational conditions. Volume 4 examines light traversal and dimensional relationship. Volume 5 develops the hypothesis's gravitational modeling, and Volume 6 pressure-tests that model against Newtonian mathematics, relativity, causality, and observed behavior.

The work is offered publicly as a reader edition so that curious readers, critics, researchers, and independent thinkers can examine the model, challenge its assumptions, identify weak points, or help refine the parts that may carry conceptual weight. Five years of hosting and continuous public presence are now secured for the project and its complete reader archive.
